Moises Modesto and Duane Harden began MODU Productions in October 1997. Ironically, the two graduated from Boston University and were co-workers at a campus job.  Neither knew that the other had musical talents and interest.  But as fate has it, after a couple of years of being out of school they ran into each other one night in a pool hall in Hoboken, NJ.

The very first project that they worked on was an R&B ballot for Tekitha Washington (the first female artist signed to Wu-Tang Clans label RazorSharp) titled "The Love That I Once knew".  Many nights were spent in the small Cat out 'Da Bag Studio that Duane had started a couple of months earlier.  After completing the demo, the dynamic duo began working on various productions to learn each others style and to create a new and unique sound.

Moises is a Dominican from Jersey. As a young boy, he was inspired by his father's musical talents on the saxophone, and developed a strong desire to master the piano with the same passion and skillz. Moises grew up in front of the piano, attending piano academy from grammar school all the way up through college, ultimately receiving a National Piano Diploma and starting a few bands. As an attempt to impress his high school sweetheart, he composed several piano solos for her, and discovered his passion for writing love songs. This discovery has now expanded into all arenas of music, which blends his background in classical, latin and jazz music to create ballads, film scores, House tracks and pop music....

Duane, a southern boy from Savannah, GA, grew up listening to the Gospel sounds of the South.  His grandparents had 14 children and they all traveled around singing gospel music since they're father was a Baptist preacher.  However, Duane's interest since the 8th grade had always been in computers.  It was his brother Cedric that had a voice of an angel and who's dream was to be an entertainer.  Well that dream was cut short by his death.  But it was that event that inspired Duane to make his brothers dream come true.  He wanted to re-record a beautiful ballot that his brother had written many years ago.  That's how the studio got started.  Trusting friends like Kelvin Sylvester helped guide Duane in the right direction.

The two combined there love for commercial and deep house music into a new flavor all together.  That's just what CODEE means - Commercial and Deep house music.  They want to revolutionize the dance music community by creating combinations of commercial/deep house music.  Rather the track has a vocalist that has a deep style singing over commercial music, commercial lyrics being sung by a deep vocalist over deep music, or any other variation that the two can dream up.

It wasn't until January 1998 that the two really focused their direction.  Anna Martin (NJ), a very good friend and knowledgeable person about the industry, convinced the two that they should do a demo to take the Winter Music Conference '98 in Miami.  Instantly, they set out on a quest to with an aggressive schedule to write and produce six original CODEE vocals.  Try doing that with full-time jobs, school, and the difficult task of finding musicians at the same time of learning how to record music. But the two made it and knocked A&R executives off their feet at the Conference.

The March event brought positive responses from around the world.  Be sure to always be on the look out for MODU.  They've brought something new to the dance world that will be around for some time to come.
